Dog running!

Wolf, I really suck at keeping this thing updated, but that's okay because I'm pretty sure no one reads it.

Anyway, today will be the first time I get paid for running. I will be running a labradoodle named Roo for about 45 minutes for $20. How cool is that?!

One mile at a time

I just ran 1 mile today with 10 minute walking warm up and a 10 minute walking cool down. My timer stopped like half way through but I'm pretty sure I ran it in about 11.5 more 12 minutes. My plan is to do 1/4 mile laps at about 6mph on Thursday.

Cross training

Right now I'm only running 3 days a week some I'm also doing 2 days of cross training. Mostly I am doing 1/4 farmer carries with 21 lb bags 4-5 times. I'll probably add some mobility exercises as well as some barefoot training later this week. Also the other two recovery days I am still walking for about 30-45 minutes. Might add some easy exercises in there too but nothing too hard.

Dog park running

So I forgot I had this blog. Anyway I let life get in the way and stopped running for awhile but I'm back at it again. I ran  2 miles yesterday around the dog park while Diogi and Kida played with the other dogs. It wasn't fast but it was good.

Country running

I just moved to Cottonwood California. There are alot of ranches and nice houses in the area. The hills are great for running and the scenery is beautiful. Just ran about 8 miles with about 300 ft gain and loss. My legs are sore but it hurts so good.

New plan

So from time to time I try to rethink my running plans  to make sure I'm progressing as well as not wearing my self out. I have decided that right now Im going to put off the Marathon and train for a trail 10k trail run in November. Hopefully I can get my friend Clint to train and run the race with me :)  PS I'm still going for 1000 miles this year.

2019 progress

I have three goals as far as running goes for this year. 1. Run 1000 miles : So far I've run about 480. I think I got that one. 2. Run a Marathon. Technically the Marathon is in 2020 but its in January so close enough. 3. Run a mile under 7 minutes. My fastest time now is 7:19. I think I got that too. Yay!

Annoying setbacks

I hate  being sick or hurt because it means i have to take rest. Right now I have little white bumps on the ball of both my feet and they hurt. So i guess i should take a break but as soon as they're better I'm back out there full force.

Schedule flexibility

Had to help a friend with a fence today, so I skipped my long run today. So I have to add some miles throughout the week and do a good long run next week. You have to be flexible sometimes and do what you got to do.

WS100

Today is the western states 100 and the winner will probably be Jim Walmsy a 28 year old but it makes me wonder if a 40 year old could win it and could that be me? I think I could compete with enough training. Or am I crazy?

Fast mile

So once a week now I am doing a really fast mile. I do a 2 mile warm up, a fast mile and jog 1 mile. The first week was 7:31, 2nd was 7:37 and today was 7:25. My goal is to get it to 7 flat before the marathon.

Running high

Not an extraordinary run today, it just felt awesome. 2 miles with the dog, 3 without.

I think I can. I think I can

There is some feeling I get when I'm running that I can become not only an ultrarunner but a great ultrarunner. I want to run very very far and finish first. For some reason I believe I can.

Running is consistent, blogging not so much.

Wow its  been a long time since I updated this! Well I have run at least three times a week since November 2018 and now averaging 4-5 days and about 20 miles a week. My plan is to run the Redding, CA Marathon in January, so I need to start boosting the miles and I may go to 6 days a week.

Still moving forward

So after I sprained my ankle i took about three weeks off of running. More time than i wanted to be off but it was probably good. During that time i still took the dog for walks and did bodyweight workouts. But now I'm back to running three days a week for about 3 weeks, and I plan on doing the moonlight madness 2 mile race across the Shasta damn on 8-27-17. Its short but it looks fun.

Update: I kind of got off of running for a while after the above happened :( but am now back running stronger than ever as of November 2018.

sprained ankle, rest week and new neighbors.

So last thursday I sprained my ankle so I have decide to take it easy and no running this week. After about two months of back to running I kind of feel lazy and a little like a caged animal. But hopefully the swelling will be gone by next week and I can continue on my running journey.
on the brighter side of things, we met some of our neighbors yesterday and there really cool. They are a married couple me and Misty's age. They have a 11 year old daughter and a grandma as well. They seem like good and fun people, looking foward to getting to know them.

My running buddy.

She's a 7 month old playful, sometimes insane,  black lab. And one of the best running partners I have had. Below is a picture of her shortly after a good run, I assure you she's not dead.

Write it down.

A few years back I was a mediocre runner, and the main reason for that was because i consistently ran 3 to 4 times a week with out fail for many months. Then lots of things happened and i stopped running. Every time i would try to start running again i couldn't for some reason be consistantcy. Now I am back to running consistantcy 3 days a week for a little over a month. So whats the difference? I am keeping a record of every run I do. So I can look at what I did before and plan what i am going to do. I actually don't write it down, instead I use a log book app., but the main thing is that there is a record of it.

7 year badwater plan

If you know anything about ultramarathons chances are you have heard of the badwater 135 mile insanity. It is one of the toughest ultras in America and a fascination of mine. Now I have decided I am going to run it, but until 2024. First i have to run a half marathon in 2018 then a full marathon in 2019 then a 50k in 2020 then a 50 mile in 2021 then a 100 mile in 2022, two 100 miles in 2023 and finally the badwater 135 in 2024. Crazy? Maybe, but that was my nickname in middle school.
